It is week two for one after school chess club, and week one for a chess class for home schoolers. Next week, chess club starts at a school I'm beginning to coach this year. Due to different ages and skill levels, most weeks I will need two problems of the week.
First one I would play Bd5+ for winning the black rook.
Second one looks easy also, Bd2 pinning the bishop to his king and gaining the c-pawn after few moves since whites connected passed pawns will keep the black king busy while I start chasing the black c-pawn.
CT, correct. BTW, if you are on Facebook, you can now like this blog there. Chess Skills' FB page had a link to your blog a few days ago with the information that yours is one of the leading sources of traffic to this blog. Thanks.
Scholastic players and parents: Many of the posts on this blog feature lessons developed for youth chess players. The label "Problem of the Week" links to posts that contain my "lesson of the week" from September 2011 through April 2017, and then again occasional posts from 2021 on.
I am available for one-on-one lessons in person or online. Use the contact form below if interested.
